District Governor Corner

District GovernorHarry has been a member of the Sparta Rotary Club since 1975, serving as its president in 1980-81. He has served as club director and chairman of many of the club's projects and committees. He currently serves as a member of the C.S. Henderson Memorial Rotary Scholarship Committee. He is a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member, multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Foundation Benefactor, Charter Member of the District 6510 Paul Harris Society, and Major Donor. He has served District 6510 as a member of the Youth Exchange Committee, Chairman of the Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee, Chairman of the Humanitarian Grants Committee, Chairman of the Group Study Exchange Committee, District Conference Chairman in 2003, Group Study Exchange Team Leader to District 2090, Deputy Governor for the Foundation, Co-Chair of the District Leadership Academy, and Co-Chair of the District 6510 Paul Harris Society. He and his family have hosted numerous Rotary Exchange Students and visiting G.S.E. Team Members. Harry has been honored with the Rotary Foundation District Service Award, the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, and was named the Carl Schweinfurth District 6510 Rotarian of the Year in 2003-04.

Harry attended the University of Illinois for his undergraduate studies. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1975. He practiced as a General Family Dentist in Sparta for twenty-five years. Since 2001, he has provided dental services on a contractual basis. Harry is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society, and the St. Clair District Dental Society. He has served on the staff of several local hospitals and the Bi-County Public Health Board.

Harry is active in his church, Trinity United Presbyterian, and has served on the Session, Pastor Search Committee, and as a junior high Sunday School teacher. He is a member of the Spartan Camp of Gideons International, a member of the board of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 332, and several local charities.

Harry and his wife, Patti, were married in 1975. They have two children, Erica and Courtney. Harry enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling.
