Joe Miller, Governor for District 6510 for the 2009-2010 Rotary year, has worked in the medical profession, radio news broadcasting, and cable TV industry. He has been involved with photography since he was in Junior High School. He was employed at Cardinal Studio prior to buying the business in 1986.
Joe does various types of photography including wedding portraiture, senior portraits, corporate photography, and legal photography. He is also a part-time instructor at Shawnee Community College where he teaches photography as an art class.
Joe has lived in Metropolis since he was 5 years old. After graduating from Metropolis High School, he pursued an Associates Degree of Arts from Southeastern Illinois College. Joe married his wife, Debbie, in 1990. They have no children, but have pets that fill that void.
Joe was invited to join the Metropolis Rotary Club by Past District Governor Ed Koenigsmark. He became a member of the Metropolis Club on October 1, 1992. He has been a member of numerous club committees such as Public Relations and Rotary Foundation. He was club president in 2000-2001 and served as Assistant Governor for Area 5 from 2002-2006.
Joe's interests include history, photography, amateur radio, traveling, baseball and Rotary. . Joe is a member of the Rotary International Fellowship for Rotarians of Amateur Radio (R.O.A.R.). Joe served as co-chair of the 4203rd USAH Family Support Group while his wife was in the U. S. Army Reserves. He has been a past member of other service organizations. Joe is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and his wife, Debbie, is also a Paul Harris Fellow.
