Grants
PDG Don Mueller - Sparta & PDG Jack Langowski - Carbondale Breakfast Co-Chairs
Purpose: Assist clubs in applying for the various grants offered through The Rotary Foundation.
Goal: Identify and fund two new international projects.
Fourteen Rotarians from the Heart of America journeyed to Mexico February 20 to visit Rotary Foundation Matching Grant sites. District Governor Harry Henderson and his wife Patti traveled to Mexico to see the results of the Matching Grant. In 2005-06, District Governors (Catherine Taylor Yank) from the Heart of America partnered with District 4170 to provide a water well for the Santa Maria Palapa Community. This site, as well as several other completed Matching Grant projects, were visited and officially dedicated by the visiting Rotarians. A part of the itinerary included a Matching Grants Projects Fair where thirteen local clubs presented future humanitarian grant possibilities. Our Mexican hosts were very generous in their appreciation for all that is being done to help the children and poor of their communities. Plans are being made by the Districts represented to continue this very positive partnership with our Rotary neighbors to the south.

Object of Rotary
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. |
