The FOUR-WAY Test

Of the things we think, say, or do

First - Is it the truth?

Second - It is FAIR to all concerned?

Third - Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Fourth - Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Purpose: Ensure the long-term viability of The Rotary Foundation and its programs. Earnings from the Permanent Fund, an endowed fund, enable The Rotary Foundation to expand existing programs and/or underwrite new humanitarian, cultural, and educational programs. Contributions made by individuals are invested in perpetuity. A percentage of the total value of the fund may be spent annually to benefit the programs of The Rotary Foundation.

Goals: Encourage continued contributions to the Permanent Fund by holding three regional estate planning seminars.

Making a Gift to the Permanent Fund

The Permanent Fund enables individuals to combine their gifts into a significant force to address the world's greatest needs for generations to come.

The initial target of US$200 million for the Permanent Fund was surpassed six years ahead of schedule. Our next target is US$1 billion by 2025.

The dramatic growth of the Permanent Fund has helped increase program support five-fold since 1996-97. During the 2002-03 Rotary year, more than US$6.6 million from the Permanent Fund will be spent in direct support of the programs of The Rotary Foundation.

You can contribute to the Permanent Fund of The Rotary Foundation in a variety of ways:

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
